At the beginning of 2015, Claire Linthwaite purchased Oscuro Lampshades hoping to carry on the tradition and adding her own personal touch.
Originally from an art and design background in the UK, with a Higher National Diploma in Design and Communications, Claire loves nothing more than rolling up her sleeves and the challenge that each day brings with creating custom designs.
With variety being the spice of life and many years of rewarding jobs, travel & motherhood; the draw of learning something new, meeting interesting people and creating something of beauty, colour and a very practical use seemed a perfect fit. It was time to become her own boss.
Living in a male household with young adult sons, it's somewhat of a delight to be escaping to her lampshade studio haven where she can quietly create. When not working she can be found enjoying the outdoors.
Oscuro Story
Oscuro NZ (originally Oscuro Lamps) has existed for some 20 years in the Devonport/Takapuna area and has a well established client base. The business continues the craft of hand making bespoke lampshades, creating contemporary or classical designs to order, for both commercial and residential customers nationwide and recovering of existing shades.
With it's longterm excellent reputation, Oscuro enjoys many repeat, loyal customers: Interior designers, home staging companies, home decor retailers and furniture restorers, as well as film set stylists and general public looking for something special, or a recover of favourite shade or family heirloom. All handmade here in NZ and showcasing many well known NZ and overseas fabrics, wall-coverings and unusual materials.
